Was the machine spinning the laundry, but stopped on the spin? Or did she finish the job, but the laundry was wet? Why doesn't the Ariston washing machine wring things? The case may be a banal error of the user, but serious breakdowns are not excluded. To get the machine back up, check out the root causes of the problems.
Why is the spin cycle not working in the Ariston washing machine?
They bought a washing machine, but got a semiautomatic device? Of course, I do not want to waste time and effort on manual spin. Therefore, it remains to find and eliminate the malfunction. The following are symptoms that directly indicate the cause of the problem:
- The machine stopped with a full tank of water. The program cycle has ended, but the spin does not start. The reason may be a kink in the drain hose or a blockage in the communications.
- On the control panel, the “No spin” mode is selected. When washing delicate, silk, woolen fabrics, you could disable the option. Check and turn on.
- The drum spins, but the machine does not squeeze the laundry badly. Low spin speeds are set. It is necessary to adjust the program.
Modern technology is equipped with a weighing function. Therefore, if the drum is not loaded optimally with linen, the spin will not pass 100%. In addition to the carelessness of the user, there are breakdowns of electronics and mechanical elements. If SMA "Ariston" has ceased to squeeze things, the reasons may be as follows:
- the drain pump is broken;
- faulty water level sensor;
- the tachogenerator does not work correctly;
- engine operation is broken;
- The electronic module has failed.
How to restore the machine? There are two options: seek help from the wizard or try to cope with the problem yourself.
There is no spin in the Ariston washing machine: what to do?
Start by setting up the correct program. Open the instruction manual and read again which functions provide spin and which do not. Adjust the power of the revolutions. To eliminate imbalance and check the drainage system, drain the water from the tank. How to do it:
- Unplug the machine.
- Remove the base plate under the loading door.
- Unscrew the filter plug. Do not forget to substitute the water tank.
Now open the door, distribute or add things. Try to start the wash again. To clean the drain, prepare a basin or bucket. Now do this:
- Disconnect the drain hose from the SMA housing and point it into the container.
- Rinse the element with water pressure from the debris and replace it.
Clogging may also be in the sewers. To solve the problem, you can use special tools or call plumbing. If the recommendations did not help solve the problem, then move on.
Pump check
When the machine does not drain the water, the cause may be not only a blockage, but also a pump breakdown. The spin mode begins only after the water leaves the sewer after washing.
The washer pump is located under the bottom, so checking will not cause difficulties. Follow the instructions:
- Disconnect the equipment from the network and communications.
- Remove the detergent tray.
- After draining the water, turn the SMA on its side.
- Unscrew the screws and remove the bottom (if it is provided in your model).
- Disconnect the pump wiring, unscrew the screws of the cochlea (pump casing).
- Loosen the clamps, disconnect the drain hose and pipe.
- Remove the pump from the housing.
Inspect the item for blockage. Possibly, threads and hair were wound on the impeller, which blocked the operation of the unit. Then it is enough to remove dirt and assemble the machine. Another issue is the combustion of an electrical winding. A complete pump change is already required here.
Inspection and replacement of the pressure switch
If the spin cycle does not turn on in the Hotpoint Ariston washer, the problem may be in the water control sensor - pressostat (level sensor). During normal operation, the device gives a signal to the module about the water level in the drum. After that, the controller gives a command to drain the water and start spinning.
To check the pressure switch for proper operation, start with a little disassembly:
- Remove the upper case cover by unscrewing the screws on the back.
- Locate a round object with tubes at the side wall. This is the pressure switch.
- Disconnect the wires and tubes from the part and unscrew the fixing screw.
Inspect the pressure switch contacts at the time of oxidation. Rinse the item with water to remove dirt. Now proceed to check:
- Connect the tube to the sensor and blow into it.
- If you hear clicks at the same time - the device is working. If not, a replacement is required.
Choose a sensor specifically for the Ariston washing machine and install in the reverse order.
Replacing engine and tacho
The motor drives a belt that rotates the tank pulley. The engine does not work - the drum does not rotate. Everything is simple.
What function does the tachometer (Hall sensor) perform? It is located on the motor shaft and controls the speed, sending messages to the module. Therefore, when the machine does not go to spin, these components are checked first.
How to repair:
- Expand the appliance body to remove the back wall.
- To do this, disconnect the hoses and unscrew the bolts.
- Remove the drive belt.
- Disconnect the motor wiring, unscrew the mounting bolts, remove the engine from the housing.
Inspect the Hall sensor immediately. Fix the part in the socket and reconnect the contacts. With frequent overload of the drum and strong vibrations, the contacts could weaken, which led to a stop of work. In the event of a breakdown, the tachometer is replaced.
Also check the engine brushes that are located on the sides of the chassis. This is one of the common causes of breakdowns. If the graphite brushes are erased at least half - install new parts.
Watch the video on how to connect and check the washing machine motor:
What else could break in the motor:
- Lamellas are damaged. They are attached to the motor shaft with glue, therefore, when overheating, they peel off. You can fix the problem with a lathe by turning the collectors.
- Closed the wiring of the stator and rotor. Combustion and shorting of the windings is a serious matter and requires replacement of the motor. Trying to change the windings is unprofitable. Use a multimeter for diagnosis. Attach the probes to the sipes and measure the resistance. Indicators normally range from 20 to 200 ohms.
Inspection of the main module
Did the car hang on the spin? In this case, the error code F18 may appear on the display. This indicates the need for flashing the board. Only a master can handle such repairs. In some cases, it is more profitable to buy a new module than to repair an old one. Therefore, it is worth focusing on the diagnostic results.
Remember! If the washer is still under warranty, do not open the case and try to figure it out on your own. Contact the support center, otherwise you will lose the warranty.
Watch the work of the equipment. Typically, before the final breakdown, the machine warns the user with a knock, hum, poorly wrung laundry. These are the first bells and a timely response to them will save the family budget.
