The dishwasher is already completing a washing cycle, but suddenly stops before draining. There is water in the bunker, while the pump may be “silent” or buzzing. What happened? Why doesn't the dishwasher drain the water? There are two reasons for these problems:
- the first is an incorrect connection or blockage;
- the second is technical breakdowns that require repair.
We will tell you how to forcibly drain water from the PMM and remove the cause of the breakdown.
Why there are problems with the drain
We’ll review the problems most often reported by users. You can fix them yourself:
- Clamped drain hose. Inspect the detail: if the hose is really bent somewhere, then it is not surprising that the water does not leave. Flatten, make sure that it has not lost tightness. Run drain mode again.
- Drain filter blockage. Food debris, small debris, fragments of broken dishes - all this gets into the filter. At least once every 1-2 months, the part needs to be cleaned. If you neglect the rules, then the machine will not flush. How to remove the blockage, read below.
- Blockage of the drain pipe and pump. The reasons described above lead to the accumulation of water in the pan, because the drain path is clogged, so it does not allow fluid to pass through.
How to resume draining in the dishwasher
We will explain in detail how to proceed if you find a blockage or a problem with electronic control.
Filter cleaning
A similar problem occurs in PMM of any brand: Veko (Beko), Ariston, Virpul, Zanussi, Krona. All that needs to be done is periodic cleaning. But first drain the water from the hopper. Prepare a deep container, disconnect the hose, and start the drain mode. At the same time, check the pipe and sewer for clogging.
Before performing work, be sure to disconnect the equipment from the network.
What to do:
- Open the hopper door.
- Take out the basket for dishes.
- Unscrew and remove the filter. It is at the bottom of the compartment.
- Take out the net that is below.
- Clean parts from debris and rinse under pressure from a tap.
- Remove the pump cover, put on gloves and check the impeller - it may have been blocked by glass fragments. Depending on the PMM model, the pump cover may be mounted on a latch or screw.
Run the loop. Doesn't the water drain again? Then keep checking.
Some users complain that there is water in the salt compartment. Should she stay there? This is a normal occurrence. Pour salt into the compartment and start the wash cycle.
Checking the drain pump
If there is water in the dishwasher, time to check the pump. In order to reach, dismantle and inspect it, you will have to disassemble the PMM. Work can take place differently for brands Daewoo, Whirlpool, Candy, Hansa. We will describe the general sequence:
- After washing, water remains in the bottom pan. If you have already drained the main part from the drain hose, tilt the dishwasher slightly so that the rest drains into the container. Now remove the water in the filter with a sponge.
- Flip the PMM onto the back wall.
- Remove the screws holding the bottom cover.
- On the other hand, a leakage sensor is attached to it. Therefore, disconnect it by unscrewing the bolt.
- Disconnect the wiring from the pump, unscrew the fastening screws.
- Check if the impeller rotates. If not, the part must be replaced.
- In addition, measure the resistance with a multimeter, connect the probes to the pump contacts. Normally, the indicators are 200 ohms.
If the pump is clogged, the water does not drain and remains in the sump. To fix this, just eliminate the cause of the blockage.
Malfunctions of the pressure switch (level sensor)
If water remains at the bottom of the dishwasher, the pump does not pump out residues, the reason may be in the level sensor. When a defect occurs in one of its parts, the device gives incorrect readings. The control board does not receive a signal about the problem, therefore, it does not issue a command to turn on the pump.
If you have already checked the pump, take up the pressure switch. The level sensor is also located under the bottom and is a plastic box to which the pressure tube leads. Disconnect the tube with a pair of pliers, remove the fastening screws, and remove the sensor. Found a problem? Then change the part to a new one, because a broken part cannot be repaired.
Electronic module
In all modern models “Electrolux” (Electrolux), “Siemens” (Siemens), Hotpoint Ariston an electronic module is integrated. This is the brain of the dishwasher that controls the operation of all systems. The board may be damaged due to power surges or moisture. Sometimes the module is subject to repair if one of the elements is faulty. But do not try to repair it with your own hands, leave this to specialists.
Now you know the reasons why the water does not leave the pan or remains in the hopper.
How to prevent future drain problems
To avoid breakage, follow simple rules:
- Install the PMM in accordance with the instructions.
- Clean the filter at least twice a month, carry out a preventive start of the machine without dishes once a month. Remember to clean the seals on the door.
- Remove leftover food from dishes.
- Use special detergents and salt to soften the water.
Our tips will help extend the operation of the dishwasher for years to come. Take care of the equipment, then damage will not be scary.
