Seasonal outages of hot water or its complete absence, forcing users to install water heaters. First you have to figure out how to properly install and connect the equipment, and then how to turn off the boiler when they gave hot water. The connection order is prescribed in the instructions, and the shutdown has to be done independently. Follow our recommendations and you will succeed.
How to turn off the water heater yourself
There are different situations when you need to turn off the equipment: a trip, the start of hot water (hot water), repair. We will consider all possible options for the development of events, since the complexity of the work depends on this.
Shutdown for a period of water supply
You used the boiler while the local water supply was turned off. Now it is turned on again, and the device is not necessary. Do this:
- Disconnect from the network. Turn the knob on the panel to the off position.
- Remove the plug from the outlet.
- In some cases, you need to disconnect the boiler wiring from the meter.
If heated water remains in the tank, use it for work or wait until the contents have cooled. This may take several hours - depending on the volume of the tank.
Now you need to drain the water:
- Turn off the cold water valve so that it does not fill the tank.
- Disconnect the cold hose.
- Put a hose on the released pipe, direct the other end to the sink or large container.
- Unscrew the safety valve and open the drain valve.
- Open the mixer and turn to the “hot” position.
- When the flow of water stops, check for fluid in the tank. To do this, blow into the hose. If you hear rumbling, unscrew the heater's flange to completely remove any remaining water.
It remains to block the cold and hot streams that lead to the boiler. Open the riser water valve and use a centralized water supply.
For the night
Do you go to bed and do not plan to use the equipment? Thinking of turning it off to save electricity? If the next day you want to get a warm stream, you have to wait a few hours until the heater warms up the entire tank. In fact, the design of the device provides for economical energy consumption. Therefore, the case is equipped with thermal insulation, and heating is turned on only periodically.
If you do not plan to use the boiler in the morning, then:
- For electric models: turn the knob to the left and put it in the last position. Then press the “Network” button and unplug the plug.
- For electronic components: press the shutdown key on the control panel. Disconnect from the network.
- Some models (e.g. Thermex 1D 50V) are equipped with an on timer. It is enough to set it at a convenient time so that it starts heating and turns off the device. Users may encounter a problem when “Demo mode” is turned on. The heater works, but the flow is still cold. To turn it off, hold the Up-Down keys on the panel.
For a week
If you are leaving for one to two weeks, it is better not to drain the water so that the tank does not corrode. With the voltage regulator installed, just click on the "Turn off" button on the panel. If there is no stabilizer, unplug the device.
For winter
In winter, it is undesirable to leave water in the boiler. Firstly, without heating, harmful bacteria and microorganisms multiply in water. Secondly, if this is an unheated cottage and the liquid inside freezes, then the water heater may break. Therefore, the liquid must be drained, and the equipment completely turned off.
After such work, you can even dismantle the product if you started a repair or a change of equipment.
Now you know how to properly turn off the boiler. Before starting after the non-working season, clean the tank with special products, fill it with water, and then make the connection.
