How to properly connect the dishwasher to hot water? Most models are designed for connection to a cold water supply, so first of all, look at the instructions. It will indicate how and in what order to act. According to consumer reviews, connecting the equipment to a hot spring can save on electricity consumption. Is it so? We will analyze in the article.
Do you need hot water to connect the PMM
Depending on the brand of your dishwasher, the instructions indicate degrees for correct connection. Does the appliance work without hot water? For example, for Bosch models, no more than +20 degrees is provided. This means that connecting to a hot water supply system is not possible. Otherwise, you may be deprived of the guarantee.
Do you think that by using high temperature water you can save? After all, then the heater will not work, this will reduce electricity bills. Why do manufacturers recommend using cold water?
- The permissible rate of water heating for a dishwasher is 60 degrees. Using a source with high temperature will damage the filtration systems.
- With hot water, more garbage comes in than with cold water. You will need to install an additional cleaning filter.
- Hoses quickly deteriorate, gaskets wear out. When exposed to high temperatures, hoses and fittings may bend, loosen connections.
- The quality of washing dishes decreases. Pre-rinsing of food debris is always done with cold water. Otherwise, the pieces and particles of the products will stick to the plates.
Remember! A dishwasher can heat water, but cool it is not.
Keep in mind that hot water has a higher pressure than cold water. With a conventional mixer, the high pressure stream will go through the low pressure pipe. Therefore, you will have to install a special mixer that will block one channel.
Connection steps
Gather all the necessary tools and parts for convenient work:
- intake hose that can withstand high temperatures (if your model is designed for such a connection, the hose is included);
- brass tee with stopcock;
- special mixer;
- cleaning filter;
- wrench;
- fum tape for sealing.
Do it yourself:
- Shut off the water supply.
- Prepare the outlet of the water pipe.
- Install the brass tee on the pipe outlet.
- Connect the intake hose to the tee.
- Attach a filter to the free end of the hose.
- Connect the structure to the dishwasher.
Seal all connections carefully with a fum tape, wind it against the thread at least 10-15 times. Now open the water supply and check that the connections are correct. Is nothing leaking? Feel free to test run the PMM.
Other connection options
In more expensive models of dishwashers, it is possible to connect to water in three ways:
- to cold;
- to hot;
- to both sources at once.
The latter option is a success. The technique independently mixes the flows, bringing the water to the desired temperature. You really save on electricity, you can choose the dishwashing mode yourself.
Hybrid connection provides a large number of hoses, which is not always convenient and aesthetically pleasing. But if you find a way to carefully connect everything, then you can use the machine for your pleasure.
Think a few times before connecting the dishwasher in accordance with instructions. This can damage not only the dishes, but also the equipment as a whole.
